I want to write an equation in LaTeX in my course, but it’s not rendering correctly...what’s going on?

DataCamp courses are written in Markdown, and while LaTeX is supported in Markdown, there are a few characters that won’t work without “escaping” Markdown. Specifically, adding a backslash <code>\</code>  following the LaTeX that isn’t working should solve the problem. If that solution does not work, here are a few resources for writing LaTeX in Markdown that should help:
