At DataCamp, we believe students learn best when they are hands-on—interacting directly with Cloud software and solving real-world problems. Our courses are designed to combine short, focused videos with interactive exercises, ensuring learners stay engaged and can immediately apply their knowledge. Each course is equivalent in content to a four-hour workshop, striking a balance between depth and accessibility.
Course Structure
Cloud courses follow a consistent structure to ensure clarity and progression:
Course: Made up of 3 chapters.
Chapter: Composed of 3 to 4 lessons.
Lesson: Includes 1 video and 2 to 4 exercises, with at least 2 Cloud Exercises per lesson.
Each lesson serves as the building block of a course, with a specific learning objective that is reinforced through its exercises. While interactive learning is the priority, non-interactive exercises like Multiple Choice should be used sparingly to maintain engagement and maximize hands-on experience.
Additionally, the first chapter includes:
A “hook” lesson to capture learners' interest.

Cloud Exercises: Important note
A key element of DataCamp’s cloud courses is the Cloud Exercise, a specialized exercise type designed to give learners direct access to a Cloud service account. These exercises guide learners to complete specific tasks within their Cloud account, culminating in a Multiple Choice or Fill-in-the-Blank question to verify understanding.
As this is a relatively new exercise type, its interface may undergo updates. However, the core functionality remains the same: enabling learners to gain practical experience with Cloud services in a controlled, task-oriented environment.
